Limoomi

Limoomi is a platform that offers diet programs for a diverse range of people through both traditional and modern science. It is their goal to teach you how to live a healthy lifestyle while getting you fit and healthy.

Timeline

  • May 2020- May 2021

Responsibilities

  • Redesigning the questionnaire process, one of the main sections of the platform.

  • Defining features of the new section of the app, “Track Diet”.

Problem Space

New and existing users complained about the questionnaire process that took them on a super long journey to provide them with the best possible diet. They also had problems with the PDF version of the diet they received which resulted in their confusion. My role was to find their pain points and motivations through research and come up with solutions for solving them.

First Step: Interviews

I planned two distinctive range of interviews to get to know the users in the best way possible. First, interview the actual users and second, interview the platform’s support team who talked with users every day about their problems and questions. Users also contacted the support team when they needed extra motivation to get on track of their diet. Supporters received so many calls during the day which resulted in them recognizing a pattern of similar issues that the users faced.

Second Step: Reviewing Instagram Comments

Limoome has more than two million followers on Instagram. I learned that many users talk about their problems and ask questions through Limoome’s Instagram comments section so that the customer service or even other people with similar issues can answer them. Going through the comments section, enabled me to find a set of similar issues that most users faced.

Defining Track Diet Features

Diverging ideation phase: By triangulating all these findings, I came up with a set of problems and their corresponding design solutions. These features were not meant to be implemented all at once, but they were important subjects to be considered, as a result of the research.

User Goals

  • Users want to lose weight without taking too much of their time with the diet.

  • They need a flexible diet to adapt to their own way of living.

  • They need to know why they are not losing weight.

Business Goals

  • They want to ensure people will continue with their diet and renew it each month.

  • They want people to be happy enough so they would recommend the platform to their friends and family.

Prototype!

We converged our ideas into the most important ones and designed a prototype that would lower users’ confusion while dealing with the PDF version of the product.

  • People need to not overthink their meals and what they should eat. They need to know exactly when to eat, and what to eat. By highlighting the meal they currently should have based on the time of day, the food they should eat, adding the sides they wish to have with their food, and also providing recipe information for each food we tried to make this process easy and clear.

  • One of the main issues of the previous version was the lack of flexibility. They needed to be able to change certain days or certain meals that they did not like. By adding the ability to drag a day and drop it somewhere else, change a meal with another, and also change the food with a similar one if they do not have the equipment for the one they want, we added their desired flexibility to the system.

  • Each meal has certain streaks that showcase how precisely they followed the plan. This way they may be able to recognize why their diet may not be working. And why certain foods are recommended by the diet.

1. Diet

  1. Based on the time of day they are in, the app suggests them what they should do. Whether it’s eating a certain meal or having their vitamins, going for a walk, etc.

  2. Diets can be switched by dragging and dropping the weekdays on top.

  3. There are certain streaks available for each activity of the day. (Eating the meals based on diet, getting enough fiber and vegetables as their sides, their vitamins, eating on time). The streaks of that section turn on based on how much they have followed their diet. This is not only to motivate them, but also to explain to them why they were not seeing their expected results.

  4. Each section indicates the time period when they should eat that meal.

  5. They can also switch a portion of food with another similar one in each section.

2. Trackers

As one of the main pain points for users was not losing weight, we discovered that most of the problems were caused by them only following their meal plans without paying attention to other things that were important for the Limoome's diet, such as working out, sleeping, eating, and taking vitamins. With trackers, users can monitor their weight and track how closely they comply with other aspects of their diet and follow a healthy lifestyle.

3. Forbidden Foods and Blog

The diet suggested by Limoome’s main nutritionist was strict on some of the foods forbidden through the whole journey. Users had so many questions about those foods and were constantly asking about which food is forbidden and which one is not. Adding this section improved users’ satisfaction rate for more than 35%.

It has a search engine with filter, most asked items, and a blog which explained why the foods are forbidden.

4. Supporters

Supporters are one of Limoome’s key features that help the users not give up on their diet and continue getting plans each month. Throughout the interviews, we realized that people have different tastes in talking with supporters. Some don’t like talking on the phone and prefer a chatting environment whereas some would like to talk on the phone every week. We gave them four options to choose from in this section of the app and based on their chosen option, a supporter will contact them and send them customized motivational practices. Through research, we realized motivational practices that supporters give the users have a major impact on them keeping up with the diet.

The other project I worked on was redesigning the questionnaire process of the app.

1. Usability Testing on the current version of questionnaire

When I joined the team, performing usability testing was the first step of the process. I needed to discover the problems associated with the current version and try to define the exact pain points.

Second Role

Redesigning the Questionnaire

2. Prototyping and Testing

With the usability testing findings I rethought the questionnaire process and designed four versions. (The steps the questions are asked, the way they are clicked, the information architecture, the interactions) The new designs were tested on users and went through a participatory design process with supporters. Adding some changes, we chose one version and brought it into life. Every single design decision was made based on user’s reflections.
